분단 50년. 문 뒤에 갇힌 아이는 타인에 의해 50년을 나뉜 채 살아온 우리 민족의 슬픈 자화상일 수도 있고, 그렇게 헤어져 살면서 어느새 문 너머의 동포에게 무관심해진 우리 자신의 뻔뻔한 타성에 대한 은유일 수도 있으며, 분단을 마치 남의 일처럼 생각하게 된 우리 아이들의 무심한 표정일 수도 있다. 그러나 문이란 언젠가는 반드시 열려야 하는 것! 바로 이 나라의 미래인 화합과 생존의 비상구, 그 문이 열리기만 한다면, 스스로 열 수만 있다면….

It has been 50 years since the division of Korea into North and South. The child behind the door symbolizes sad self-reflection of Koreans who had to be separated for fifty years against their will. It is also the metaphor of us, South Koreans becoming indifferent toward North Koreans at the other side of the door. The door must be opened someday.
